The Independent Schools Examinations Board

ISEB set the Common Entrance Exam used by most Independent schools for entry at 11+ and 13+. ISEB do not provide free past papers however, they list approved providers of ISEB resource material including past papers.

The International Baccalaureate (IB)

The International Baccalaureate, formerly known as the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is a non-profit foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and founded in 1968. It offers four educational programmes: the IB Diploma Programme and the IB Career-related Programme for students aged 15 to 19, the IB Middle Years Programme for students aged 11 to 16, and the IB Primary Years Programme for children aged 3 to 12.[3] To teach these programmes, schools must be authorized by the International Baccalaureate. The key benefit of the IB is global compatibility, which can be especially important for students with ambitions to complete undergraduate courses overseas. Some Independent Schools in Scotland and England offer IB courses and welcome enquiries to discuss the benefits for individual students needs and ambitions.

Special Educational Requirements

If your child requires special education, we have capable tutors who have experience in the practice of tutoring students in a way that addresses their differences, disabilities, and special educational needs. The absolute best decision!!
We cannot recommend Edinburgh Tutors highly enough!

During the spring break, and at very short notice, we contacted Alicja hoping to find young, knowledgeable tutors who genuinely love teaching and can pass that enthusiasm for learning on to their students. Alicja was incredibly helpful from the very beginning. She recommended several excellent tutors, sent us their CVs so we could make our own choice, and also gave us honest, thoughtful guidance about who she felt would be the best match for our daughter.

The results have been absolutely incredible. After just five weeks of intensive tutoring, our daughter went from an F in Higher Maths to an A, from a C in Higher Chemistry to an A, and from a C in Higher English to an A!

We are completely overjoyed and so grateful to Alicja and the wonderful tutors she matched us with. They did not simply teach the subjects—they helped our daughter gain confidence, understand the material and realise what she was capable of achieving.

Even when it feels as though there is not enough time left before the exams, do not give up. If you have a child who is willing to learn, Edinburgh Tutors will work incredibly hard to find the right tutor and the right match for them.

Outstanding progress thanks to Edinburgh Tutors
Our grandson chose economics as a crash higher in S5.
Sadly he did very badly in his prelim exam only getting a mark in the 30s.
With just a few weeks to go we decided that a Tutor was required and contacted Edinburgh Tutors with the hope he might get a pass

My son failed his Nat 5 physics prelim, so I looked for a tutor through Glasgow Tutors. We received a selection of CV's very promptly, and together we chose Ella Morgan from the selection that we were given. Ella worked over Zoom and Teams with my son, and was always reliable and prompt. She was able to develop a good relationship with him and he never complained about a lesson. I got helpful reports after each session, and the method for paying the company was hassle free. We found out yesterday that he got an A in his exam, so I'm absolutely delighted and think this is 100% down to Ella's help in breaking the course down for him and checking his understanding. We'll definitely be back in touch if necessary for his Higher maths this year. Hopefully Ella has space for us after this review! Thank you, it was all a really positive experience.
