Art and Design Tuition – How a Tutor Can Make a Difference

Art and Design at Higher combines practical portfolio work with written analysis and critical understanding, and pupils are assessed on both expressive and design work. Balancing strong technical skills with the ability to write clearly about art and design concepts is where many pupils need the most support. The expressive portfolio asks pupils to develop personal, creative work in response to a theme, working across 2D and 3D formats and experimenting with different techniques, scale and composition. The design portfolio focuses on developing design proposals from an initial brief, showing a clear design process from research and specification through to a resolved outcome. Critical Analysis and Exam Technique

The absolute best decision!!
We cannot recommend Edinburgh Tutors highly enough!

During the spring break, and at very short notice, we contacted Alicja hoping to find young, knowledgeable tutors who genuinely love teaching and can pass that enthusiasm for learning on to their students. Alicja was incredibly helpful from the very beginning. She recommended several excellent tutors, sent us their CVs so we could make our own choice, and also gave us honest, thoughtful guidance about who she felt would be the best match for our daughter.

The results have been absolutely incredible. After just five weeks of intensive tutoring, our daughter went from an F in Higher Maths to an A, from a C in Higher Chemistry to an A, and from a C in Higher English to an A!

We are completely overjoyed and so grateful to Alicja and the wonderful tutors she matched us with. They did not simply teach the subjects—they helped our daughter gain confidence, understand the material and realise what she was capable of achieving.

Outstanding progress thanks to Edinburgh Tutors
Our grandson chose economics as a crash higher in S5.

My son failed his Nat 5 physics prelim, so I looked for a tutor through Glasgow Tutors. We received a selection of CV's very promptly, and together we chose Ella Morgan from the selection that we were given. Ella worked over Zoom and Teams with my son, and was always reliable and prompt. She was able to develop a good relationship with him and he never complained about a lesson. I got helpful reports after each session, and the method for paying the company was hassle free. We found out yesterday that he got an A in his exam, so I'm absolutely delighted and think this is 100% down to Ella's help in breaking the course down for him and checking his understanding. We'll definitely be back in touch if necessary for his Higher maths this year. Hopefully Ella has space for us after this review! Thank you, it was all a really positive experience.
